It’s fairly new. I think iit’s under 4 years old and seems to be running well and the wires aren’t hot. It will be 100 today in the NE part of the U.S. Should I leave it on? I clean the filter every 3 days.

You never have to shut it off. It will be fine. Look at offices , their a/c is on all the time.Cleaning filters is the key. You get a star
I don’t know what type a/c you have, but here in Texas, we run ours 24/7 during the summer, so I would think you would be okay to let it run as needed.
I got an old one on for the last 4 days continuosly (sp) and its going to be on for a few more days by the looks of the weather.
I put it on low cool so the compressor doesnt have to work as hard,,,,keep the shades down,,,not a problem so far.
Anyway thats what they are for.
